I recently... as of today... came across this quote by Jerry Bridges, which I loved. Something I want to be reminded of daily!
"Your worst days are never so bad that you are beyond the reach of His grace. And your best days are never so good that you are beyond the need of God's grace. Every day should be a day of relating to God on the basis of His grace along."

Saying Things Twice
I just got done listening to a message by Roy Comfort called Hell's Best Kept Secret for my Theology class. Amazing message! Worth hearing if you haven't yet. But there was one part I thought was hilarious and wished I could share it on my blog. He was talking about how men need to hear things twice. Made me think of Brian Regan's stupid husbands skit. And how totally awesome it was that I found his sermon typed out on his website.
He says;

Son of God, Lunatic, or the Devil
For my Theology class, there is a lot of articles I have to read.... One I was reading on bring up arguments on if the Bible is the word of God, the author had a quote from C.S. Lewis that I loved.
Lewis said,
"I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: I'm ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don't accept His claims to be God." That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic - on a level with the man who says he is a poached egg - or he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse..... You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He was not left open to us. He did not intend to."
What is your choice?

"Through My Eyes"
For Christmas, my grandmother, GG, gave me Tim Tebow's book Through My Eyes. What an amazing book! It's so encouraging that through all his hard life, he never lost faith in what God was doing with his life. As I was reading the chapter on his college decision, one paragraph really stuck with me. He says;
"People often seem to think that when you're following the Lord and trying to do His will, your path will always be clear, the decisions smooth and easy, and life will be lived happily ever after and all that. Sometimes that may be true, but I've found that more often, it's not. The muddled decisions still seem muddled, bad things still happen to believers, and great things can happen to nonbelievers. When it comes to making our decisions, the key that God is concerned with is that we are trusting and seeking Him. God's desire is for us to align our lives with His Word and His will."
How true this is! So many Christians believe that the Christian faith is a fair tale, that God is going to bless you with goodness. Yes, that is true... but that's not what the Christian faith is all about. I know this from my own life, God brings us through trials to bring us closer to Him. Money would be nice, I'm not gonna lie, or a brand new car, but what is even sweeter is to have a relationship with Christ! He wants us to wait on Him, to follow Him, and to live our lives to glorify Him. Something I hope to grow in in the future.
Spurgeon says, "It does not matter how heavy troubles are if you can cast them on the Lord." What a comfort to know He is in the driver seat, and not me!
(And no I did not name by blog after his book. My name I came up with in Florida way before his book was published!)

Something Sweeter Than Honey
I just started reading Choosing Forgiveness by Nancy Leigh DeMoss, and she has a Spurgeon quote in there that I love. So I thought I would share it with the blogging world....
"To be forgiven is such sweetness that honey is tasteless in comparison with it. But yet there is one thing sweeter still and that is to forgive." -C. H. Spurgeon

He Chose Me!
At the moment I am reading C.J. Mahaney's book Humility: True Greatness. I've been meaning to blog about it, but have not really had time lately, or just flat out forget to. But in chapter 8 Mahaney was talking about "Identifying Evidences of Grace", also known as evidences of God's grace, or what I like to call EGGs. In this part of the chapter, he was talking about God calling us to Himself, and gives this Charles Spurgeon quote which I loved!
"I believe in the doctrine of election, because I am quite certain that, if God had not chosen me, I should never have chosen Him; and I am sure He shose me before I was born, or else He never would have chosen me afterwards, and He must have elected me for reasons unknown to me, for I never could find any reason in myself why He should have looked upon me with special love."
Wow! How true is that?
